The core members of the band Petr Dvorský, Stanislav Macha and Jiří Slavíček are long-time bandmates and members of the debuting quartet The Four, which together with saxophonist Karel Růžička Jr. in the nineties recorded a number of successes and awards. The quartet has added the experienced Welsh saxophonist Osian Roberts, whose predatory and sophisticated improvisation adds an even more emotional charge to the whole ensemble. The new formation is a loose continuation of the 1990s period and offers a new programme of compositions by double bassist Petr Dvorský but also by other composers (Oscar Pettiford, Sam Jones, Karel Růžička Sr.) arranged for acoustic jazz quartet. The generational affinity of the musicians and their frequent collaboration in other projects create the premise of a unified musical language and extraordinary instrumental interplay.
