He is considered by many as the world’s foremost jazz vocalist, while others prefer to highlight the importance of his twelve Grammy nominations and win for the album “Dedicated to You” or perhaps his successful discography and prestigious collaborations. The fact remains that this charismatic chap is a constant fixture on the leading pages of prestigious magazines Down Beat and the Jazz Times, where he frequently scoops up victories in critics’ polls and is winning an ever growing following. And we have to add that one of the reasons the organisers invited Kurt Elling is that he will be accompanied by the splendid trumpeter Marquis Hill who will add to the range of trumpet stars (Wynton Marsalis, James Morrison, Terence Blanchard, Randy Brecker, Bobby Shew, Chuck Findley) performing at the Prague Proms in recent years.
