The National Theatre hosts the first year of the International Theatre Festival Prague Crossroads held from 2 to 8 October 2017 at the New Stage. The best world drama finally to be seen in Prague!

The Prague Crossroads Festival has two tasks: to establish the tradition of a spectacular Prague theatre festival and to meet one of the fundamental duties of the National Theatre. The duty to notice injustice and to name it, to emphasize human rights and to encourage good behaviour and tolerance among people. These are the values ​​of Václav Havel, whose legacy inspired the foundation of the festival. We want to remind that way that it is never just about the theatre and that democracy never automatically wins.

The main point of this year's programme is the performance of Democracy in America by world-famous Italian director Romeo Castellucci. In addition to this, the Irish theatre Dead Centre comes with Lippy, Slovenian Beton Ltd. will present Ich kann nicht anders, the Slovak National Theatre brings its successful production Elites and the festival will be closed by Lebanese theatre director and artist Rabih Mroué (Riding on a Cloud).

All performances (except the Slovak one) will be presented with Czech and English surtitles. Each performance will be followed by a debate with the creators, and another program consisting of discussions, lectures and workshops will be part of the festival.
