Mozart’s most extensive mass composition is marked by a fate similar to that of his famous Requiem. His Great Mass has also remained as an unfinished torso, and the circumstances of its composition and first performance are similarly shrouded in mystery. Even without the missing conclusion, this extremely personal work of Mozart’s has gone down in the history of sacred music as one of the most powerful musical settings of the mass text.

Collegium 1704 and Collegium Vocale 1704 are acclaimed for their recordings (Diapason d’Or, Gramophone Magazine) as well as opera projects (Mysliveček‘s Olimpiade nominated for International Opera Awards, Händel‘s Rinaldo) and concerts (with Magdalena Kožená, Vivica Genaux, Bejun Mehta etc.). Their past and future appearances include Theater an der Wien, Salzburger Festspele, Luzerner Festival, Konzerthaus Wien, Wratislavia Cantans, residences in Oude Muziek Utrecht and Bachfest Leipzig and two own concerts series in Prague and Dresden.
