In this dramaturgically exceptional musical project we are connecting the cultures of two distant landscapes. Over the centuries Finland and the Czech Republic went through different developments – historical, linguistic, political and cultural. However, these two worlds meet harmonically today in the form of music. We are aware that the composers´ development – thinking, thematic materials, composing techniques or the use of expressive means of music – in a given time closely follows similar lines.

The main idea is the opportunity to present and bring at least a small fraction of the great compositions of the Finnish female composer Helvi Leiviskä to the Czech audience. In this context her no less talented Czech contemporary Vítězslava Kaprálová logically came to mind. Her work deserves considerable attention as well.

The songs of the famous teachers of both of the female composers form the connection between them.
