One of the greatest living Czech guitar players has released a new album Cab to Cotton Club in honor of Duke Ellington, recorded in studio Svarov with Dano Šoltis on drums and Brian Charrette on Hammond organ. His energetic music draws mainly from the jazz mainstream with blues roots: the hardbop or soul jazz, that was popular in the 1950s and 60s, but retains its magic, energy and grateful listeners. To date, Pokorný has released nine albums and is rightly ranked among the best that the Prague jazz scene has to offer (g; p; b; dr).
