The 11th International Festival of Contemporary Music MusicOlomouc 2019 with the subtitle "Colors of Piano" will take place from 7 to 22 March. The festival will offer 7 concerts during which several world premieres will be performed. The diverse possibilities of the piano will be presented from the inside piano, through the prepared piano, two pianos in quarter-tone spacing, the piano with electronics or the piano trio and the piano in the ensemble. The opening concert performed by Quasars Ensemble (SK) with an international cast will be the largest event of the festival in terms of size. Another Slovak ensemble Cluster ensemble will present the work for two pianos in quarter-tone spacing. Contemporary work for the piano trio will be represented by the Brno Isha trio (CZ) consisting of flute, singing and piano. The next concert with the title Piano in the Works of Jan Vičar will be held for the author's 70th birthday. In addition to two world premieres performed by a jazz quintet, the composer's portrait will be accompanied by compositions in various instrument combinations with the piano. The Belgian pianist Daan Vandewalle will perform at the festival with foreign performers and ensembles, who will present the complete cycle Sonatas and Interludes for John Cage's prepared piano. An evening devoted to piano and electronics will offer three world premieres (F. Chaloupka, M. Cutting, G. Diaz-Jerez) performed by Ricardo Descalz (E) and Michael Cutting (GB). The end of the festival will belong to the piano duo Schallfeld ensemble (A), whose program will culminate in the important piece Zeitgeist George Crumba - legend of contemporary music.
