World Premiere – Written for the PRSO
The May concert in Prague’s Rudolfinum will bring together a trio of young, talented Czech musicians. Marek Šedivý, a regular collaborator with the orchestra, will join forces with violoncellist Tomáš Jamník, the winner of the Prague Spring international competition, to perform the world premiere of Narcissus, which the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra commissioned from Jan Ryant Dřízal.
The concert will open with the extremely colourful dance score La Péri by French composer Paul Dukas. The evening programme will culminate with one of the orchestral mainstays of the twentieth century, the dramatic and effective Concerto for Orchestra, written by Hungarian composer Béla Bartok during the Second World War while in exile in America.
