Magic, charm and refinement – those are the common denominators of a concert that will comprise the most beautiful works of world-class operetta. The cradle of the operetta may be Paris, but its golden age was in Vienna, a city that has over the years become synonymous with the genre. 

One of its most distinctive Viennese representatives is “Waltz King” Johann Strauss Jr., whose operetta The Bat is likely known by all lovers of the fleet-footed muse. And it is from this operetta from which a selection of the best arias and duets will be performed. The most important successor to Strauss was Franz Lehár, and even though his works are suffused with melancholy and usually do not end well, they are rightfully part of the treasure trove of world-class operetta. And we will perform the brightest of the gems, Land of Smiles. 

As part of the evening of operetta, we will not even leave out the passionate Gypsy Princess by Hungarian composer Emmerich Kálmán, and a vital work of Czech operetta, Nedbal’s Polish Blood. It was Oscar Nedbal who brought Slavic warmth to Viennese operetta.
