Collegium 1704 & Collegium Vocale 1704

The individual parts of the mass ordinary which Zelenka composed in 1724–25 were certainly not intended as a single work, though they are connected by a unified musical language and similar instrumentation. Conductor Václav Luks put them together in the form of an imaginary mass and the internationally acclaimed recording of this piece was issued in 2020. Since then, Missa 1724 was performed in several European countries. However, it will be introduced for the first time at the Rudolfinum as part of the season of baroque orchestra Collegium 1704.

Missa 1724 will be complemented by a setting of the psalm Laudate pueri by the famous Venetian composer Antonio Vivaldi. The virtuoso solo part will be performed by the Canadian soprano Karina Gauvin, famous and sought-after interpreter of baroque music, who is also going to appear in the title role of Händel´s opera Alcina in the new co-production of National Theatre Brno, Opéra Royal de Versailles and Théatre de Caen (premiere 5 February 2022 in NT Brno).
