Melody as a legacy of the European music, jazz harmony, improvisation, emphasis on elaborate sound, thoughtful construction of musical form, the color of compositions – these are the main features of the chamber jazz project, the Tomáš Sýkora Trio. The repertoire consists exclusively of originals composed by Tomáš Sýkora. The instrumentation corresponds to the standard format of a jazz piano trio (piano, double bass, drums), but is further enriched by synth sounds and electronic samples. With its expression, this music can be included in the tradition of modern European jazz. However, the rhythmic concept is closer to African-American styles. The final sound of the whole project is calm and harmonious, but it does not miss a beat, venturing into more explosive elements in the form of solos from each of the individual players. The goal of the project is to play as much as possible and to make music honestly and with joy.
