American pianist Benny Lackner earned a bachelor's degree at the California Institute of the Arts under the direction of Charlie Haden. He has collaborated with musicians such as Billy Higgins, Marc Ribot or Brad Shepik. His piano technique is formed by Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Radiohead, Medeski, Martin & Wood, and also by Brahms and Chopin. Another key component is a careful selection of material. In addition to his own catchy funky songs, Benny Lackner plays cover versions of popular artists such as Björk, Jimmi Hendrix, Nick Drake and Blondie.
