International festival of slavic music

Dear friends, the second year of the International Festival of Slavic Music (IFSM) is held between 5 and 15 November 2018 in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It is a cultural event where the music of Slavic nations is presented by highly esteemed performers, mainly of Slavic descent. The main aims of the festival are to offer ground for national as well as international cooperation of both artist and scientists, joining them under the common idea of promoting Slavic music, and also deepening the relationships between nations which are both historically and geographically related by the common denominator of culture. The organizers strive to bring to the listeners varied concerts and exclusive soloists as well as ensembles. The artists perform not only in halls belonging to the regional bodies, but also in arts schools and churches. The International Competition in Performing Slavonic Music for children and the youth aged 8-26, which culminates in a Winners’ Concert, is an integral part of the festival, It is evaluated by an international jury, and this year there is also the violin-making workshop of the master violin maker, Tomáš Pospíšil, as well as René Adámek’s masterclass and the possibility of consulting the jury members for the pupils, opening a pedagogical plane of the whole event. The jury includes performers who will appear directly at the festival, which may also motivate the contestants more. The goal of the competition is to incite and deepen the young participants’ (UKR, POL, MKD, RUS, HRV, SLO, BUL, SVK, CZE ad.) awareness of Slavonic composers’ music and classical music in general, and offer them the possibility to visit concerts of the highest quality standard, compare their performances with the international competition as well as provide a varied programme aimed also at the regional and national values (visit of Leoš Janáček’s birth house, visit of Prague). We intend to foster a future generation of artists and help the international relationships of Slavic nations. The organising party of the IFSM is the L&L music association. The opera singer, musical scientist and university pedagogue, Martin Kajzar, is the Executive and Artistic Director of the Festival, while the organist and musical pedagogue, Lucie Kajzarová, is the Festival Manager. The patron of this year’s Festival is Michal Pobucký, Mayor of the town of Frýdek-Místek, General Consul of the Polish Republic in Ostrava, Janusz Bilski, Genegal Consul of the Russian Federation in Brno, Alexander Budaev.
