The Creatures of Prometheus of The Power of Music and Dance

The only known ballet by famous Ludwig van Beethoven to be re-staged in period style after 215 years! Originally called Die Geschöpfe des Prometheus, the ballet will be staged by renowned ensembles Musica Florea and Hartig Ensemble – first night on 2nd July,2016 in enchanting chateau theatre in Valtice.

Ludwig van Beethoven is known mainly as the author of nine symphonies and famous piano concerts and sonatas. From his theatrical works only one opera was completed (Fidelio) and one ballet, which the Czech audience will have an opportunity to see in the period style. Musica Florea orchestra and Hartig Ensemble are going to create the work together in such a way that a form as close to the original as possible is achieved – both ensembles have already proved their abilities with their re-staging of several operas and ballets.

Marek Štryncl, head of the Musica Florea is in charge of the music, while choreography is in the hands of Mrs. Helena Kazárová, professor at Prague AMU. As an artistic leader of Hartig Ensemble – Dances and Ballets of 3 Centuries, she invited several special guests to perform in the ballet, so the cast will have an international background and may surprise the audience quite a lot!

Choreography and direction: Helena Kazárová
Music interpretation: orchestr Musica Florea
Conductor: Marek Štryncl
Costumes: Roman Šolc
Sets: Václav Krajc and Jiří Bláha
